Elizabeth Gaylynn Baker is a charismatic award winning film director, producer, and screenwriter---a film maker. She has her own production company in New Mexico.

Elizabeth initiated a visionary task force to work with New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson and pass historic New Mexico film maker legislation.

Elizabeth was instrumental in crafting this complex effort, and is credited with helping make New Mexico undisputed film capital of the Southwest.

Known as The Godmother of the New Mexico Film Industry, Elizabeth is spoken of in awe: "She knows where everything is in this business, how it works, and who to call to get it done; that means economically, on time, and right the first time."

Elizabeth Baker can bring your project in and help you accomplish your commercial and/or practical goals.

Thanks to the foresight and help of Governor Johnson and astute members of the New Mexico State House and Senate, and with the crucial support of Elizabeth Baker and film Super Stars Shirley MacLaine, Val Kilmer, and Marsha Mason, among others, New Mexico now leads a rebirth of the film industry itself. Marsha Mason

More. Immediately following the tragic events of September 11, as Press Secretary for New Mexico Lt. Governor Walter Bradley, Elizabeth produced Project Dreamcatcher. This was a complex operation she crafted and spearheaded. It put New Mexico Lt. Governor Bradley into the field with dozens of New Mexico team members, five tribal healers and two television crews, to conduct and document a spiritual healing ceremony among the smoking ruins of Ground Zero. Elizabeth saw to it that the delegation acquired and distributed some 10,000 hand-made healing Native American dreamcatcher talismans, to grateful New York schoolchildren and and firefighters.

When Buffalo Roam

Elizabeth Baker, New Mexico, film writer

Elizabeth Gaylynn Baker worked on eleven independent films in Los Angeles with other production companies before she wrote and directed her first documentary, the highly explosive expose, When Buffalo Roam. During the making of this seminal film, which exposed ongoing animal slaughter, of buffalo, Elizabeth faced personal danger when threatened at gunpoint by an enraged "hunter." She stood her ground, and even took ground back in her native Texan style: she forced the huge, armed thug to back off, in order to finish her important work, at any cost. This powerful, shocking film, made by a powerful woman, won the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival as Best Social Documentary Short of 1999.

The Trail Of Painted Ponies

The Trail of Painted Ponies, was Elizabeth Baker's movie production company's first feature length film. A moving, artistic, and uniquely structured masterpiece of passion, sincerity, and fascinating insight, narrated by film Super Star Ali MacGraw, it won Best Documentary at the White Sands Film Festival, while Elizabeth was judged by Sony Classics in New York, and won Best Woman Director. A dramatically charged The Trail of Painted Ponies  was selected by television station WLIW for a special PBS premier in New York State. The Trail of Painted Ponies was concomitantly exhibited in Albuquerque, NM as a show-cased item of New Mexico's Best Independent Films, which was sponsored by the New Mexico Film Commission itself.

Turner Classic Movies Said: ...the Trail of Painted Ponies is one of the world's most fascinating public art projects...

About.com Said: Oscar nominee Ali MacGraw hosts this tour of an unusual form of personal expression...a striking correlation between artistic creations and personal identity.

Editorial Review Said: Celebrating the art, culture and music of the American Southwest. This dynamic and colorful documentary...has excited the imagination and captured the hearts of thousands. Whether you're an art lover or horse lover, you won’t want to miss experiencing this incredible cross-cultural event...

As a talented writer of vast sensitivity, Elizabeth Baker created a season of the acclaimed show Wild Rescues, for Animal Planet. She currently has an outstanding movie - film - video production company. She served for two years as an Associate Editor of Body Mind Spirit, and also founded an internet magazine called Spirit Matters.
